Sheraton Dining Table with Three Leaves & Double Birdcage Pedestals

Refinishing, modifying, ageing, distressing and French polishing a brand new table.
 
This an example how we add two delightful centuries to well built Dining Table made 3 months ago.

Here is the dining table with one half stripped and one half with the original lacquer finish.

This is the original base with no platform at its base, which we later add, and computer production carving on the legs.

This is a close up of the CNC production carving on the legs, which look about as period as plywood.

We try re-carving a sample on one leg and simply don't like it.

We the shave off the carving altogether, with the clients approval, and head into another direction.

We then try another sample keeping more with the architectural feel of the base, e-mail this to the client and he loves it.

Here we show the template we use to cut out and router the edges of the Mahogany platform base.

Here we show the new platform base, the new platform top and the new finial we researched and bought to adorn the Birdcage Pedestal.  We picked out several and he chose this one.

These are the pedestal legs completely re-carved and with their first glaze coat for aging.

With gentle distressing, glazing and coloring in layers, re-carving and a new platform, this is a close up of the finished Birdcage Pedestal. This is two Centuries in the making.

Voila, with all the parts in the making - Two Centuries in two weeks, plus or minus a day or so.

These feet were shiny new brass that we aged and gave sample options to the client.  He chose the middle sample.

This is the underside of the table were we unified the color, aged the brass clips and sealed the underside to prevent warping.
